| In the last 10 years the Argentine
Tango became very popular through all the world. Actually it is danced
in over 70 countries from all latitudes. Since the visit of the maestro Fransisco Canaro in 1961, the Tango has had high popularity and reputation among the Japanese people for the last 40 years. The dance, also loved in Japan, it started 20 years ago and now is danced all over the country. In the year 2003, for the first time, the National Television (NHK) sponsored a 9 weeks tango teaching program inviting exclusively the ATDA, making the tango boom in all Japan. The ATDA pioneer show TANGO LIBERTAD, performing for 19 years, also was televised for National Television in the year 2003-2004. In 2006 a new tango program started, being televised twice a month, makes the tango more and more popular every day. Workshops, shows and also the Second Japan open tango Championships are going to take place in the Festival. The competence will have judges not only from Argentina, but from all over the world, making it a high level competition with important prizes for the champions and the finalists. We want a big future for the tango, not only in Japan and Asia, but in all the world. The festival will be televised
exclusively for the MX TOKYO TELEVISION. |
